As the Teochew community is one of the largest in Singapore, it is important for us to understand our roots. However, it can be inevitably dry at times. Hence, people find it meaningless to preserve our culture. Through our interactive videos, we hope to change these perspectives that people have of traditional Teochew culture. As the saying goes, if a picture speaks a thousand words, a video will be priceless! Follow us on our journey as we bring you stories from various Teochew heartlanders of Singapore!

Social Media

Few millennials are interested in traditional culture and heritage in Singapore. As most Singaporeans love food, what better way to tackle this issue than using Teochew food to promote culture and heritage! In today's digital age, we hope to spark the interest of traditional Teochew culture amongst our audience through social media platforms bincorporating a modern twist to our content. Through these platforms, we hope to keep the Teochew ‘sprit’ in Singapore alive!

Editorial

As the Editor of this project, I want to introduce the beauty of Teochew culture to the younger generation. With more advanced technologies, millennials are starting to neglect their “roots” which is a concern in the 21st century. How can we make progress without understanding where we actually come from? I hope that through our project, we are able to reach out to the younger generation and bring in the sense of awareness through the myriad methods such as interesting food videos and attractive posters.

I believe that one would only understand who they really are only after they know where they came from. Thus, it is worrying to see most millennials having little knowledge of their own cultures. Some words may include, "Old-fashioned", "Difficult", "Complicated" etc. Thus, through this project, we hope to use captivating content and ideas to attract our audience and change their perceptions of traditional cultures one step at a time. Learning about traditional cultures can be fun too!
